Luggage & Lockers

Coin lockers, luggage delivery and travelling light around the city.

Tokyo makes it easy to move without dragging your bags everywhere.

Coin lockers

Most stations have coin lockers in several sizes. Many are now operated with an IC card, which also lets you reopen the locker easily. Large lockers fill up fast at major stations, so store bags early in the day.

Luggage delivery (takkyubin)

A popular option is same-day or next-day luggage delivery. You can send suitcases from your hotel to your next hotel, or between the airport and your accommodation, and travel hands-free in between. Hotel front desks can usually arrange this.

Large luggage on the Shinkansen

If you travel by bullet train with very large suitcases, some seats with oversized-baggage space must be reserved in advance. Check when booking.

Airport storage

Both airports have luggage storage and delivery counters if you need to drop bags before or after a flight.
